The significant growth we have experienced as a company and team has strengthened our current key market proposition and created a solid platform for further growth. Here’s a look back at the key moments in history that have defined us, what we’re doing presently and mapping out our future:

1979

The Beginning

Philip and James, who were machine operators at the time, take the bold step to utilise their vast experience and start their own business, operating from a small premises located close by to the city centre.

1983

Gaining Loyal Staff

The team expands to meet workload demands and the company employs a senior operator, who demonstrated loyalty and devotion through various roles over the years and is currently employed as the Engineering Manager.

1986

Taking The Next Leap

Further to recent successes and increased workload, the company relocates to a larger premises in the north of Coventry to accommodate more plant machinery and a growing workforce.

1999

Taking A Leap Further

Philip James outgrows its current premises and relocates again to larger premises in the east of Coventry and recruits additional staff, along with investing in additional CNC Milling and Turning machines

2011

More Flexible Premises

The opportunity to relocate again to another premises to facilitate business expansion offered improved accessibility, larger office space and more efficient layout of machinery. Philip James continues to operate out of this site presently.

2011

Wire Eroding Service

To complement the existing range of manufacturing capabilities and offer more diverse range of services, Philip James invested in the very latest high technology Mitsubishi MV2400S.

2012

5 Axis Is The Future

To signal the intent to move ahead with the times, Philip James invests in two new 5 axis machines. The machines increase capacity to manufacture from solid materials.

2016

Going International

Further to a solid reputation domestically, Philip James begins working with international companies for the first time. Majority of these companies remain loyal clients to this day.

2018

More 5 axis capacity

Purchased a new Hurco VMX 42 SRTi 5 Axis vertical machining centre to provide additional 5 axis capacity, improve operational efficiency and reduce turnaround times.

2019

A New Look

As part of the business growth strategy and to modernise the corporate image, Philip James undergoes a complete rebrand to signify the next era in its history.

Being Greener

To accredit the good work we have already done, we will be applying for ISO14001 in the near future.

Life begins at 40

In September 2019, Philip James will have been operating for 40 years. As a well-established company, the milestone is a testament to the quality of our work and hardworking team.

2020

On track for AS9100

Further to recent enquiries, Philip James aims to achieve AS9100 quality standard within the next 18 months. Providing services directly to aircraft OEMs would be a natural progression from the highly skilled work already undertaken as a sub-contract supplier.
